MARCH 2007

GREETINGS

Royal Wine Corp. is pleased to update you regarding the premiere of the "Kosher Food & Wine Experience".

FIRST-EVER KOSHER FOOD & WINE EXPERIENCE - A GREAT SUCCESS!
The Kosher connection to the Kosher Wine Experience

Ever since Noah alighted from the boat and planted a vine, Jews have had a continuous relationship to wine. Through the ages that link has been reinforced with every circumcision, wedding and the many celebrations, in between.

To celebrate that connection, Royal Wine hosted a Kosher Food & Wine Experience at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan.

It marked a celebration of how far kosher wine has come.

And a long journey it has been too!

The sweet and syrupy concoctions of yesteryear are but a distant memory. Todays generation is infinitely more demanding and discerning in their palate.

Eight generations of the Herzog family have dedicated themselves to fulfill the vision of having kosher wines compete head-to-head with their non-kosher counterparts to be the best that they can be. Judging by the recent sold-out Kosher Food & Wine Experience, their wildest expectations have been exceeded. It is testament to Royal Wine Corp and their brands Herzog, Kedem and Baron Herzog- people have become educated and increasingly aware of sophisticated virtuoso wines. Not all of them are dry, either. In accomplishing their mission, Royal has co-opted the finest of Israeli winemakers, such as Carmel, Barkan, Castel, Binyamina and Hamasrek who have now taken their rightful place as legitimate hi-end wine producers on the world wine stage.

Having wandered in the proverbial desert, the Children of Israel have earned a soaring reputation in the industry and are now entering the Promised Land of wine appreciation.

This became very apparent as members of both the public and media traversed the room tasting over 200 wines and the best that kosher wines have to offer, nowadays.

With each winemaker a story. Take Capacanes for instance. Jurgens Wagner came to Spain from Germany and after marrying a Spanish girl, he set about addressing the needs of Barcelonas local Jewish community seeking a locally-produced kosher wine.

Keen on taking up the challenge, while sacrificing nothing in quality, Wagner recruited a co-op of 80 Catholic farmers to provide the vineyards to make the wine, which they would call Peraj Haabib Hebrew for Flors de Primavera (Spring blossom) . It was such an outright quality success that the winemaker went on to produce non-kosher versions for the general market. As 500 people packed the halls, last week, seeking to learn, taste and understand, many would remark on how kosher wines have finally arrived.

An excellent example is Chateau Valendraud, a prestigious French selection considered elite among their French peers, who eagerly joined Royal in raising the standards in kosher wine.

So too, with a revitalized Carmel Mizrachi and winemaker Lior Laxer who studied with the best in France and worked indefatigably to elicit a new breed of wines at Carmel that would reap medals and high accolades from wine critics, worldwide. Including such winning wines as Chillag and Yatir they are awesome in raising the bar for their portfolio. Yatir just won a 91 rating from critic Anthony Dias Blue.

The new look of Israeli wines is rapidly garnering attention. Grooming this new look is Barkan winery (who also own Segals wines) has produced a range of winning wines and they have the medals to prove it. Their new Altitude series (indicating elevation levels) of 650 and 724 are the toast of the town.

The Greengrass brothers inherited their winery near Tel Stone, in the Judean hills, from their father. They have handcrafted their winemaking to widespread praise from connoisseurs and consumers, alike..

Close by to the entrance into Jerusalem, comes a winery called Castel (named after the steep incline ascending towards the capital). Winemaker, Eli Ben Zaken and his son-in law Arnon have propelled this label into a world -class reputation. So good are their white Chardonnays and Grand Vin that they challenge French aristocratic wines and come out on top. They are committed to the kosher-with quality combination that drives the standards that Royal wine seeks for its portfolio fit.

Binyamina is a prime example of a re-energized ancient wine region that has transformed into the 21st century. Their latest Yogev series pays tribute to the Israeli farmer who toiled the land in years past, enabling the fruits to be realized today. From the Golan (at 2500ft elevations) to the Negev and the Dead Sea (the lowest place on Earth) it is but a short drive of a few hours. Such is our Creators Garden of Eden, called Israel, with its mixed climates and varying soils that has enabled Israel to join with the illustrious ranks of prestige winemakers.

Gush Etzion, as does Zion wines; have also pursued this new and demanding role to be the best that they can be. The Gush wines were present and many tasted them for the first time with notable appreciation. Psagot was another boutique winery notching up successes, as was Ramim, famous for their Dessert Rose.

The most popular attention for French wine was heaped on Christian Dalbavie of the Chateau Valandraud house of wine.

Maybe it was a harder challenge for domestic kosher wines that could not conjure up the romance of Europe or the Mideast. But winemaker, Jo Hurliman, with his customary poise and flair, was not fazed. It soon became quite clear why, as participants gushed with praise at the winemaker for his Herzog and Baron Herzog lines. Jo explained how he was not content to rest on his laurels and promised even better vintages to come.

Jeff Morgan, aside from being an expert consultant to Royal Wine, is also the winemaker for Covenant, a Napa Valley Cabernet that has earned a whopping 92 rating from Robert Parker Jr.-the guru of wines in the US. Its as smooth as they come and sets a standard by which other cabs may be judged. In chatting to him one gets the impression, hes just warming up.

But how can one taste so many wines without the balance of food. Thanks to TV chef Jeff Nathan of Abigaels, a rich and bountiful spread was the centerpiece of the evening for people wishing to balance their high-end wines with high quality food. Despite the packed sold-out audience there was enough delectable cuisine for one and all.

Many prestigious media attended the premiere with various representatives expressing wonderment as to the upscale quality and choice of the wines and the demand generated by todays kosher wines.

A highlight of the evening was Nahum Segal, who auctioned off for charity several rare wines from the Herzog Collection. Even he was surprised as interested wine lovers bid up to $1000 for rare 1994 Herzog selections. Nachum also broadcast his radio show live by remote so even those who could not get tickets were treated to an audio- insight into the special evening.

David Herzog Royals CEO, thanked all guests and participants for making the event the success that it turned out to be and from his beaming smile we can speculate this will now be an annual event. Another milestone in the annals of kosher wine history.

Cheers!
